Passing The Baton

This is a belated message from the old staff of Philippine Children’s Mission wishing everyone understanding for the absence of news about the work in the Balagtas Home. It has been more than a year and a half that we were out of touch from most of you. Some are asking if you are still welcome to come to the children for fellowship and sharing of blessings.

The good news is PCM is now kicking even more actively providing service for the leper’s young kids. The former kids have gone home but a new batch have been brought in by parents from Tala Leprosarium, courtesy of Rebecca Biblianas. Rebecca used to be a sponsored child living in PCM. Now she is fully immersed in church helping children inside Tala Leprosarium by providing a preschool ministry. The Lord has blessed her family because of their devotion to God’s mission of helping the poor people of Tala. Her father is a retired Pastor of the local church where Rebecca is serving.

In about two years the 50- year service life of Philippine Children’s Mission will end. Currently, the Board is working on its SEC extension for another 50 years. It is just fitting then that the next era of PCM be managed by the new generation.

In June 2, 2007,  with the Board’s approval, Lolo Fred turned over the position of Executive Director of PCM to Pastor Sandy San Diego (Lolo Fred remains to be President of the Board). Ptr. Sandy, a Master of Divinity graduate of ISOT-Asia seminary, is a church planter and a pastor of a 1-year old church in Novaliches. Consequently, Lola Mar was  replaced by Ruth, Ptr. Sandy’s wife of 19 years. Ptr. Sandy and Ruth are not new to the work in PCM. They are Board members since 1999, and Ptr. Sandy has been doing the monthly financial reports and the quarterly newsletters of PCM. He is up to now the Corporate Secretary for many years. Ruth, our eldest child, has spent her childhood with us in PCM. The couple with their 4 children have been monthly visitors of PCM before, providing treats and care for PCM’s children.

This may be our last letter to you; Ptr. Sandy will report to you in succeeding newsletters. As a parting shot let me just say, it was a good journey with you and with the Lord. As you have supported us for many years, we highly encourage that you continue the same support for the new leaders of PCM. With you, the current staff, and our good Lord, we believe that PCM is in good hands.

Resting in His care,
Lolo Fred & Lola Mar
