What We Do

Philippine Children’s Mission (PCM) has a long tradition of providing a home for children of parents or guardians afflicted with leprosy, most of them residing in Tala Leprosarium. Although leprosy is already curable, the stigma and the ensuing poverty remain to be a challenge. Hopelessness and victim mentality are passed from generation to generation. Intervention must be provided to end the cycle of beggary among the poorest families of Tala.

Today, PCM's mission is to improve the quality of life of the disadvantaged Filipino children through evangelization, nurture, education, and character development towards productive lives pleasing and honoring to God. Disadvantaged children are children of underprivileged parents afflicted with leprosy, cancer, and other debilitating diseases which render the children helpless.

Please take note that we are not limited anymore to leprosy cases.

As such, PCM pulls some children out of the totally destitute families, place them in a Christian home where the Bible is taught and practiced. PCM provides for their food, clothing, shelter, and education. We aim for a college education as long as the existing funds can provide. PCM is giving these children an opportunity to enjoy the promise of a “full life” by Jesus (John 10:10). We want them to realize that He is the true anchor of all our hope and that there is no victory without God. PCM exists to accompany them in their journey towards productive lives pleasing to God.

In the future, PCM also wants to see Christian homes established in different parts of the country, transforming disadvantaged children as they grown and mature to lead lives honoring to God which, upon the children's completion of the program and upon return to their homes, will bring about social and economic upliftment to their families and communities.
